The person behind The Techie Guy

Jose Contreras founded The Techie Guy to bring enterprise-grade IT support to small and mid-sized businesses in Miramar, Pembroke Pines, Hollywood, Fort Lauderdale, Davie, and the rest of Broward County — companies that need reliable managed IT and cybersecurity but don't have an in-house IT department.

Jose's background is in systems administration and network infrastructure, including Microsoft 365 and Active Directory administration, network configuration, and IT support for growing organizations. That hands-on experience shapes how The Techie Guy approaches every client: practical fixes, clear communication, and technology recommendations that fit the size and budget of the business — not generic advice copied from a bigger MSP playbook.

Outside of managed IT services, Jose also owns and operates Smart Laptop Services, an established computer repair and IT business, giving The Techie Guy's clients access to deep, real-world repair and hardware expertise alongside ongoing managed IT support.

The Techie Guy exists because South Florida has no shortage of small and mid-sized businesses running on outdated hardware, unmanaged networks, and IT support that only shows up after something breaks.
